A teenage Irish girl has been killed and her brother seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Cyprus.

A teenage Irish girl has been killed and her brother seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Cyprus.

The 17-year-old girl died after being struck by the car as she and her brother were walking on a road near the western resort of Coral Bay last night.

Police are trying to trace the driver, believed to be British and living in Cyprus.

The girl's brother is described as being in a serious condition in hospital.

It is understood the pair were on holidays.
