RTE has received confirmation from the European Broadcasting Union that Ireland is among 23 countries accepted to compete in Eurovision 96 in Norway on May 18th. The other competing countries are Turkey, UK, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Malta, Croatia, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Estonin, Norway, France, Slovenin, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Poland, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Slovakia and Sweden.

The song chosen to represent Ireland is The Voice, composed by Brendan Graham. It will be sung by Eimear Quinn.
