Secret ballot ends Liebherr wage dispute

Workers receive a backdated 2.5 per cent pay increase

A dispute over a wage claim at Liebherr Ireland container crane manufacturing plant has ended following a secret ballot over the past two days by Siptu workers.

The workforce involved in the ballot represent under half the 670 strong workforce at the Killarney plant.

The dispute at the Liebherr container crane manufacturing plant at one point appeared to have threatened the future of the plant, with strong warnings from management the future of the 55 year old factory was being compromised by demands for pay increases.

A majority of the workers voted to accept proposals brokered by Labour Relations Commission Kevin Foley in late February.
