A man injured in a road collision on the outskirts of Lifford on Thursday has died in hospital.
The 34-year-old, who was originally from Belfast, died at Letterkenny General Hospital early Friday.
He has been named locally as Ciaran Parker who was understood to be living in Letterkenny.
He is the sixth person to die on Donegal’s roads in just over a week.
The man suffered severe injuries on Thursday when his car was in collision with a lorry between Raphoe and Rossgier at Tullyrap just after 1pm.
A woman who was also in the car was taken to hospital where her condition was described as stable.
Five people aged between 19 and 28 were killed in a 24 hour period in Donegal last week following two separate accidents.
Head of the Donegal Traffic Corps Inspector Michael Harrison, appealed to motorists to slow down, wear their seat belts and not to drink and drive.
“Please respect the roads,” he said. “Donegal has now suffered the loss of six young people on our roads in the space of a week. We do not need any more deaths.”
