The body of a fisherman has been recovered from the water off the Beara Peninsula in Co Cork.

The body of the man, believed to be in his early 60s, was discovered close to Dinish Pier in Castletownbere.

Coastguard volunteers and local fishermen helped recover the man’s body from the water.

Emergency services were called and attempts were made to resuscitate the man but was he pronounced dead at the scene.
