Insurers report fraud increase

The Irish Insurance Federation has reported a sharp increase in the number of suspected fraudulent claims

The Irish Insurance Federation has reported a sharp increase in the number of suspected fraudulent claims. Its current newsletter reports there are 563 cases under investigation, a 128 per cent increase since 1994.

The federation has a claims matching database which helps insurers identify individuals making multiple claims, or similar addresses being used by different claimants.
