Unions in SA call off strike at power utility
JOHANNESBURG – South African unions have called off a planned strike at the power utility Eskom after receiving a wage offer of a 9 per cent rise and a housing allowance, ending concern about power supplies during the football World Cup.

Cable car project set for London
LONDON – Visitors to the London Olympics in 2012 could be able to cross the river Thames using the city’s first cable car, authorities have said.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said he had been inspired by cable cars in New York, Singapore, Barcelona and other world cities. The £25 million (€30.31 million) project would link two Olympic venues. – (Reuters)
Nigerian gunmen release workers
PORT HARCOURT – Nigerian gunmen have released 12 foreign workers, two days after attacking their cargo vessels in the oil-producing Niger Delta, military and security officials have said.
Seven Russians, two Ukrainians, two Germans and a Lithuanian were taken from two ships on Friday near Bonny in the southern Rivers state. A Latvian worker was injured. – (Reuters)
