A Catholic family believes a sectarian motive was behind a gun attack on their home in Cloughmills, Co Antrim.

Three children aged 18, 14 and 11 were at home without their parents when a single shot was fired through the front door of their house in Cypress Park around midnight yesterday. Mrs Paul Reid said her family had lived in the house for 18 years and would not leave. In a separate incident, the Sinn Fein representative for Upper Bann, Ms Dara O'Hagan, has blamed loyalists for a number of attacks on Catholic homes in the Craigwell Avenue area of Portadown, Co Armagh, on Sunday night. Meanwhile, a petrol bomb was thrown at a bar in Ballymena, Co Antrim, in the early hours of yesterday.

The Imperial Bar in Wellington Street suffered scorch damage. The RUC are not treating the attack as sectarian.
