Greek police have stepped up their search for a man believed to be a principal leader of the shadowy guerrilla group November 17, declaring him to be "armed and very dangerous".
An order was issued to intensify the search for Mr Dimitris Koufontinas (44) after a meeting between police and anti-terrorist officials in Athens.
Officials at the meeting also called for increased security at police stations across the country.
Mr Koufontinas has been on the run since July 15th when police issued a warrant for his arrest. Police have also asked Interpol to help track him down.
Fifteen suspected November 17 members have been rounded up in recent weeks -- the first arrests in the group's 27-year history.
The breakthrough came after another suspected member was seriously injured in June when a bomb he was carrying went off prematurely.
November 17, named after a student uprising against the military regime that ruled Greece in the 1970s, has been blamed for a total of 23 killings, beginning with the 1975 murder of the CIA's station chief in Athens.
