Peace and goodwill may have broken out all around, but Sinn Fein Youth is sticking by its logo despite highly raised eyebrows. The circular graphic shows an Easter lily inside a petrol bomb. It was intended to be tongue-in-cheek, the republican youth wing told the Irish News this week. No one was offended by it according to spokesman Eoin O'Broin.
"I certainly don't think that if people look at a graphic they are going to run off and make petrol bombs. The idea is that traditionally things like petrol bombs have been part of the way young people have resisted the state's violence. It's just a metaphoric thing if you like." What odds new Sinn Fein will quickly abolish this symbol of the past?
