Go-ahead for millennium exhibition
LONDON - The controversial Millennium Exhibition at Greenwich will go ahead, the British government announced yesterday, but said it must be an exciting event.
The Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, ordered a complete revamp of the £580 million project to celebrate 2000. He resisted pressure to "dump the dome", saying he was following his instinct that the project could be a momentous success. Building work on the centre-piece PVC and steel structure will begin next week.
