Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given is expected to play in tonight¿s Premiership clash with Liverpool at Anfield after shaking off a back injury.
The news will be welcomed by Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy as Given is due to play for Ireland in the European Championship qualifying game with Russia in Moscow on Saturday.
Given injured his back in training a week ago and felt a strain while warming up ahead of the club's Champions League qualifier with Zeljeznicar last Wednesday.
