A TEENAGE Cork girl cried out in a court that she was going home and not returning to give evidence against a man who denies sexually assaulting her.
The 16 year old alleged victim's outburst came during cross examination in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court by defence counsel Mr Blaise O'Carroll SC (with Mr Brendan Grehan) for her mother's former boyfriend.
She had become emotional during her evidence and cross examination and when asked via the video link by Judge O'Connor if she wanted another break she cried out she was not coming back to the court.
"I am finished now and I'm not coming back to answer more questions", she said.
The 36 year old man has pleaded not guilty to 20 charges of indecent assault and sexual assault on the girl on dates between 1989 to 1993.
Earlier she told prosecuting counsel Mr Patrick McCarthy the offences stopped in 1993 when her mother ordered the man out, of the house.
The girl said the offences happened on a daily basis.
She broke down during her direct evidence when she described her allegations of the accused man touching her body She claimed he hurt her with his finger on a number of occasions.
In further reply to Mr McCarthy, the girl claimed he followed her to school on the day her mother ordered him out of the house. He met her again that day and told her to deny to gardai or anyone who asked that he had ever touched her.
Cross examined by Mr O'Carroll, she alleged he threatened to kill her if she told her mother. She said her mother caught him touching her once in 1990. Later that day, her mother asked her if anything like that happened before but she denied it.
She said she was afraid of the accused man who she alleged beat her mother in a row about the incident.
Crying, the girl then shouted. He beat my mother that morning and he would have done the same to me.
Pressed by Mr O'Carroll on this, the girl greed she had not told gardai about it when she made her statement. The hearing ended at that point with the teenager crying out she was not returning for further questions.
The trial continues.
