A 15-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital today after being hit with a baseball bat in Dublin nine days ago.

A 15-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital today after being hit with a baseball bat in Dublin nine days ago.

Rebecca Kiely from Dublin was struck during a fight between two men as she was standing near St Brigid's GAA club in Castleknock at about 9.30pm on Friday, November 10th.

A Garda spokeswoman said Ms Kiely appeared to have been struck with a baseball bat that was swung following a row between two men.

Two men in their 40s were charged in connection with the incident yesterday at Dublin District Court.

The men, both living in Dublin, were charged with assault causing harm under section three of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 and were remanded in custody to appear in court again next Monday.
