Girl (5) critical after Co Down crash

A five-year-old girl was fighting for her life today after being struck by a car in Co Down.

A five-year-old girl was fighting for her life today after being struck by a car in Co Down.

The youngster was walking along Downpatrick Road in Ardglass when she was hit by the vehicle at around 4.30pm yesterday.

She was rushed to hospital, where her condition is described as critical.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man died following a single vehicle crash in North Belfast.

The accident happened on the Crumlin Road shortly after 9am yesterday morning.

Police have appealed for witnesses to either incident to come forward.
