A four-year-old is fighting for her life in hospital this evening after she was struck by a car in a hit-and-run this afternoon.

At 2.45 p.m. the little girl was walking with her mother on Kiltalown Way in Tallaght when she was struck by the car. It failed to stop but Gardai are looking for a red Ford Fiesta with a 96 CW registration.

The child was taken to first taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment on hip and leg injuries before being transferred to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin. Her condition is described as serious.
