Four men who were arrested on Tuesday as part of a Garda investigation into international terrorism have been released without charge.

The men, three Libyans and an Algerian, were arrested in an early-morning swoop on five premises in Tallaght, Rathmines and Ballinteer on the south side of Dublin city. Two of them were taken to Terenure Garda station, and the others were held at Kevin Street.

They were questioned about suspected connections with Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.

All four were held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, but there was no evidence to connect them to any terrorist activity.
