The man whose body was recovered from the River Boyne this morning has been named as 28-year-old Mr Derek Faherty from Pearse Park in Drogheda, Co Louth.
Mr Faherty had fallen into the river on September 21. Efforts to rescue him were frustrated by the strong current and his body was swept down stream.
He is the second young man to drown in the river in less than a week. On Monday September 23, Mr Anthony Morrissey (21) from Dromiskin, fell into the river and despite being taken from the water about 15 minutes later he died.
Two other men who fell into the river this week were rescued.
