Gardaí in Kilkenny have named the man killed in an accident at a limestone quarry yesterday.

James Diamond (53) from Inistioge, Co Kilkenny, died after he fell into a silo containing crushed limestone at Bennettsbridge Limestone Quarries, five miles from Kilkenny City.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Health and Safety Authority has today begun an inquiry into the accident.
