Gardaí have confirmed the names of three teenagers who were killed in a horrific car crash in Co Limerick yesterday evening.

Mr James Ryan (18), Mr Seamus Keogh (18) and Ms Naomi Mulcahy (16) died when their Toyota Starlet collided with a Toyota Avensis on a narrow stretch of road near the village of Hospital on the Caherconlish road at 7 p.m.

The driver of the Avensis - a middle-aged man - was taken by ambulance to Limerick Regional Hospital. His wife was treated for shock.

Gardaí say conditions were poor at the time of the crash - it had been raining all day and it was dark.
