Gardai in Dublin have detained two men after a firearm and ammunition were seized in the Clondalkin area this afternoon.

The men were arrested St Marks Drive. A Garda statement said both men were stopped and searched by detectives from Ronanstown station.

"A firearm and ammunition was seized and both men were arrested and taken to Lucan Garda Station where they are now detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

"They have addresses in West Dublin and are aged 21 and 33," the statement added.
