A senior garda has described the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a missing Co Clare man as “very unusual and baffling”.

Insp Tom Kennedy was speaking yesterday after the badly decomposed body of Frank Hassett (25), from Drumbiggle, Ennis, was found partially concealed in the shower area of an apartment on Lifford Road, Ennis, on Sunday evening.

Gardaí, the local Civil Defence and Mr Hassett’s family had been carrying out extensive searches since he disappeared on June 14th.
