A student who was found with serious head injuries in Dublin early on Saturday remained in critical condition yesterday in hospital as gardai made a fresh appeal for information.

The 24-year-old man was found by a fire brigade ambulance crew in the stairwell of the Rape Crisis Centre in Lower Leeson Street, Dublin, at about 7 a.m. after they responded to a emergency call.

Detectives at Harcourt Terrace Garda station said yesterday they wanted to hear from anybody who was in the vicinity between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. and might have information on the incident.

In particular, they were anxious for an American or Canadian man in his mid-20s to come forward. The man was at the scene when the ambulance arrived but had gone when the gardai appeared.
