Gardai in Limerick are continuing their investigations into the shooting of Mr John McNamara (25) while he was walking to his home at O'Malley Park, Southill, at 1.30 a.m. on Sunday. The attacker was said to be wearing headgear and was believed to be carrying a single-barrel shotgun.

Mr McNamara is recovering from leg injuries at the Regional Hospital. Gardai say their inquiries suggest "some kind of old retaliatory action".
