Gang fails to steal safe from premises

A gang failed yesterday in a bid to remove a safe from a commercial premises in the centre of Ballinagh, Co Cavan.

A gang failed yesterday in a bid to remove a safe from a commercial premises in the centre of Ballinagh, Co Cavan.

Gardaí believe a number of men were involved in the attempted theft from the store on the town’s Main Street in the early hours. Despite causing internal damage the thieves were forced to flee empty-handed.

Detectives believe the gang may be linked to an earlier spate of robberies in the Cavan and Longford areas.
