A 23-year-old man is recovering in hospital after a "punishment" beating on Monday night by a group of masked men armed with baseball bats. The men forced their way into his home at King's Court Street in east Belfast. The victim suffered arm and leg injuries.

Meanwhile, the RUC believes that a fire at Gransha Boys' High School in Bangor, Co Down, was started deliberately. Two classrooms were extensively damaged in the blaze early yesterday.
