Galway clinched a nail-biting tie after a spirited fightback from Armagh in their Senior Football Championship qualifier in Croke Park this afternoon.

Having at one stage led by six points, Galway took their foot off the gas just a touch and allowed Armagh to haul themselves back in to the game and level at 12 points apiece.

Oisin McConville led Armagh’s second half renaissance after what was undoubtedly a a heated team talk from the management partnership of Brian McAlinden and Brian Canavan.

However,Moycullen forward Paul Clancy was the hero of the hour when he scored the winning point minutes from the whistle, to dash the hopes of the resurgent Armagh.
