Following his death on Tuesday aged 83, mourners are expected to turn out today to honour the writer, best known for his Raggy Boy trilogy.Adapted for the big screen, Song for a Raggy Boy starring Aidan Quinn told of a teacher’s struggle to protect boys in a brutal Christian Brothers reform school in 1939. Galvin will be cremated tomorrow at 2pm at the Island crematorium, Ringaskiddy.
