GAA to acquire "Twelfth" field

A field used by the Orange Order for its annual Twelfth of July celebrations is to be sold to the GAA, it emerged yesterday. He land is to be purchased by St Eugene's GFC, Newtownstewart, for development as a football and hurling pitch.The property, known as Vaughan's Holm, is owned Strabane District Council and is currently used as soccer and Gaelic playing fields. The 20-acre site is used each year as an assembly point by Orangemen before their annual march. Strabane Council agreed in principle to a request of the land be sold for upgrading of its facilities.
