GAA:The GAA is hopeful their revamped website (www.gaa.ie) will improve communications channels for all, from grassroots club members through to officers and fans from near and far
The new look website was officially launched at Croke Park today and claims to provide all the “latest fixtures and results, news and videos and the facility to purchase tickets online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week in an easily accessible format”.
GAA president Christy Cooney said it was important for the Association to make such information and services widely available. "As one of the leading sporting organisations it is important that our supporters and members have access to the latest information,” he said.
“The new website will contain the latest news from the GAA. One of our main focuses this year is the importance of our clubs and there is a special club zone section to reflect this. "
An historical archive of results will enable fans to check results from as far back as 1887. Championship wallcharts, podcasts and wallpapers can also be downloaded while an image gallery will feature action from archive games. Training videos and information on coaching also forms an integral part of the site.
"The GAA website is a hugely important communications channel for the Association to communicate with our clubs, members, officers and fans,” said Lisa Clancy, GAA director of communications at today’s launch. “Visitors to the site will experience a more vibrant look and feel, packed as it is with quality videos of GAA stars past, present and future.
"The re-launch of our new website marks a new direction for the GAA. This new modern dynamic website contains all the latest GAA action and we hope it will be of interest to all age groups and backgrounds members and non members across the globe." she added.
The history of the GAA, a new search tool to locate GAA clubs across the country and a listing of upcoming events all feature on the site.
