Police in north Belfast tonight responded to reports of a fresh wave of sectarian violence in a flashpoint area, with a number of shots fired and blast bombs thrown in Glenbryn and Ardoyne - where last year's Holy Cross Primary School dispute took place.

Nationalists claimed shots were fired from the loyalist side into Ardoyne at around 3.30 p.m.

Loyalists alleged blast bombs were thrown into Glenbryn around 2 p.m., with two people sustaining shrapnel injuries.

Ulster Political Research Group member Mr Davy Mahood claimed two people were injured by blast bombs thrown into Glenbryn and a number of houses were damaged.
