Four men in Britain were charged today with the murder of a man found fatally injured in the back of a van after a dramatic swoop by armed officers in Berkshire.

Detectives arrested the four men after officers stopped the vehicle on Wednesday on the main A30 London Road in Sunningdale after receiving a tip-off that it had been involved in a crime.

The victim, who Thames Valley Police named as father-of-three Shaleem Amar (33) was found hidden inside the van in a serious condition.

He died shortly afterwards with a post-mortem examination saying the cause of death was head injuries.

Witnesses quoted by media at the scene said he appeared to be wrapped in bags. Police were also reported to have said he might have been tortured.

Newspapers said the victim might have been held captive in a nearby £3 million property which has become the focus of the investigation. Detectives confirmed they were searching a multi-million pound six-bedroom mansion close by in connection with the murder inquiry.

Tom Johnston (24) Ben Johnston (26) Robert Johnston (56) and Shaun Matthews (54) all from the Cambridge area, are due to appear at Slough Magistrates' Court tomorrow charged with murder.
