Former Irish rugby coach Mick Doyle (63) was killed today in a road collision near Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
The accident happened on a stretch of road between Omagh and Dungannon known as Quinn's Corner.
Mr Doyle led the Irish rugby team to a Triple Crown victory in 1985 when Ireland completed a clean sweep beating England, Scotland and Wales. His team also won the Five Nations Championship in the same year.
Between 1965 and 1968 Doyle won 20 consecutive caps as a flanker. He made his international debut against France at Lansdowne Road.
He toured Australia with Ireland in 1967 and South Africa with the British and Irish Lions the next year.
Mr Doyle also coached Leinster to Interprovincial Championship success five times between 1979 and 1983.
It is understood this morning's accident happened around 9 a.m. and Mr Doyle is thought to have died at the scene.
The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr O'Donoghue, said Mr Doyle's: "'give it a lash' philosophy . . . earned iconic status in Irish sporting circles," adding "we are much the poorer for his passing."
