The death has taken place of former Fianna Fáil TD Hugh Gibbons (91).
Dr Gibbons was elected to the 18th Dáil representing the Roscommon constituency in the 1965 election and retained his seat until his retirement from politics in 1977.
His son, Dr Brian Gibbons, was appointed health minister for Wales by Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan in 2005.
