Bumped into Trevor White of Food And Wine Magazine during the week, who, despite being hectically busy getting the second issue out took time out to share some culinary news. Colin O'Daly, the feted Roly's Bistro chef, is apparently putting finishing touches to a plan to bring some foodie finesse to Palm Beach in Florida while fellow chef, Conrad Gallagher of Peacock Alley, also has expansionist plans.

He is planning a 140-seater restaurant called Lloyd's in the Merrion Street local formerly occupied by George Sabongi's place La Scala. The Cal-Ital bistro, which will be slightly more "price accessible" than the exclusive Peacock Alley, will be near enough to Patrick Guilbaud's soon to opened new place in the Merrion Hotel, to make a new culinary mecca out of Merrion Street. Now that's food for thought.
