The Kylemore road in Dublin is closed at Labre Park due to flooding. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible. A diversion is in place via the Bluebell Industrial Estate.

In Wicklow, the Ballysmutton Bridge between Sallygap and Manor Kilbride, just outside Blessington, has collapsed, AA Roadwatch said.

The road is likely to be closed for at least a week.

The motoring body also urged motorists to take care on the Ardclough to Straffan Road at Clownings in Co Kildare, as there is a fallen tree partially blocking the road.

In Co Louth, the Ardee to Drumconrath Road (Bog Road) is impassable due to flooding. Ballyward bridge in Kilbride and Tinnahinch Bridge on the Enniskerry to Kilcroney Road are also impassable due to flooding.

Irish Ferries has cancelled Swift sailings on the Dublin-Holyhead route due to the bad weather conditions. Passengers will be accommodated on the 8.55pm Cruise ferry from Dublin.

Stena Line HSS sailings from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead route have also been cancelled today.
