A CityJet flight from Malaga to Dublin on Sunday had to make an unscheduled landing in Bristol following disruptive behaviour by two male passengers, the airline revealed yesterday.

The British Aerospace 146 aircraft, chartered by a tour operator, was met on arrival at Bristol Airport by policemen. Two passengers, both said to be from Dublin, were taken to Weston-super-Mare police station.

The men were released without charge and had to make their own way back to Ireland.

A CityJet spokesman said: "This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we will not tolerate it. Accordingly, we have passed the names of the men to gardai in Dublin and they are investigating the matter further."

However, the Garda was last night unable to confirm that a complaint had been lodged.
