A man who told gardai he supplied more than £60,000 of heroin to inner city flats has been jailed for five years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Christopher Mitchell (37), of St Mary's Mansions, Dublin 1, had £320 worth of the drug in his underwear when stopped by gardai. He pleaded guilty to having heroin with intent to supply outside his home on January 29th, 1998.

Garda Declan McCarthy from the Dublin North Central Drugs Unit said Mitchell admitted that he sold £100 of heroin daily in the St Mary's Mansions area for 18 months. Judge Frank O'Donnell said that while Mitchell was a heroin addict feeding his habit, the inner city community must be protected from heroin.
