Five in court on gun charge

Five men were charged in Belfast yesterday after a firearm was seized by police on the Doagh Road, Newtownabbey, on Monday.

Five men were charged in Belfast yesterday after a firearm was seized by police on the Doagh Road, Newtownabbey, on Monday.

Mr Alan Webster (37), of Tynan Drive, Mr Mervyn Cooper (39), and Mr William Stewart (34), both of Devenish Drive, Mr John Willis (23), of Clonmore Green, and Mr Kenneth Smith (18), of Merville Garden Village, are charged with possessing a Walther pistol and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

The men were remanded in custody to appear in court on May 5th.
