Five men have been arrested in Limerick on suspicion of being members of the Continuity IRA.
Gardaí raided a pub near the city centre last night and broke up a meeting of eight men. Five men, three with Limerick addresses and two from Dublin, were arrested.
The men, four in their twenties and one in his mid-thirties, are being held for questioning at Henry Street Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. They can be held for up to 72 hours.
Eight men were arrested in a house in the Ballynanty area of the city in December last year and have appeared in the Special Criminal Court on charges of membership of an illegal organisation.
