An elderly Dublin woman died yesterday in a fire which is believed to have been started by an electrical fault.

An elderly Dublin woman died yesterday in a fire which is believed to have been started by an electrical fault.

Mrs Evelyn Carey (75) of Mourne Road, Drimnagh was found by her son in law who called to the house at midday yesterday to take her for Sunday lunch. He noticed smoke at the front door and went inside to find her lying dead on the sitting room floor.

Gardai say Mrs Carey had been seen alive at midnight on Saturday.
