The senior police officer investigating the murder of Belfast solicitor Mr Pat Finucane in 1989 said his team has a "relatively clear picture of what took place" but the investigation will continue for six to nine months.

Mr John Stevens, Deputy Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police, will be relinquishing control of the operation when he becomes commissioner. Assistant commissioner Mr Hugh Orde will be taking his place in Belfast.
