A Finn, Leo Kuokkanen, of Carlton Court, Swords, was convicted of careless driving and fined £200 when Swords District Court heard that he caused a crash by driving on the wrong side of the road. A Malahide woman described how she came over the brow of a hill on the Coast Road, Malahide, on October 9th to find a Finnish-registered Opel Astra driving straight at her. There was a head-on collision and she was partially thrown through the windscreen.
Mr Kuokkanen admitted that he was on the wrong side of the road and told Garda Gillian Mangan that he had forgotten what country he was in.
