Gardaí are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions following the seizure in Cork of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €120,000.
A man in his 40s with an address in the Banteer area of north Cork was arrested in the Pouladuff area of the city in the afternoon as part of a Garda investigation into the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in north and west Cork.
Gardaí working in conjunction with the Cork West Drug Unit stopped and searched a car on the Pouladuff Road at about 4pm. They discovered 6kg of cannabis herb, which, pending analysis, has an estimated street value of €120,000.
The driver was arrested and detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996, and was taken to Togher Garda station for questioning. He was released without charge shortly before midnight on Wednesday.
