FIANNA Fail plans to move the writ on the Order of Business today in the Dail for the Dublin West by election to take place on April 2nd, writes Maol Muire Tynan, Political Reporter. The vacancy was caused by the death last year of Mr Brian Lenihan.

The Fianna Fail whip, Mr Dermot Ahern, said last night he expected the Government would not oppose the writ. Mr Lenihan's son, Brian, will contest the seat for Fianna Fail.

Mr Ahern added he expected the Government to move the writ for the Donegal by election, also next month. It is normally the prerogative of the party to which the deceased TD belonged to move the writ. The Donegal vacancy is due to the death of the Independent Fianna Fail TD, Mr Neil Blaney.
