Tennis: Twice defending champion Roger Federer served his way into the third round of the US Open with a workmanlike 6-3 6-4 7-5 victory over Tim Henman.
Top seeded Federer fired only six aces and had his serve broken once but proved to be in a different league to Henman on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 25-year-old, who has not lost a set in his two matches, will face either American Vince Spadea or Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden in the third round.
Henman was outclassed by the world's best player two months ago at Wimbledon, going down 6-4 6-0 6-2 in the second round as Federer continued on his way to a fourth men's singles title at the All England Club.
In New York, the 31-year-old Englishman suffered that sinking feeling again. The defeat evens up the head-to-head record between the players at six wins each, but Henman has now been beaten in each of the last five meetings with the
Swiss superstar, all in straight sets.
Joining Federer in the third round were Marco Chiudinelli and Stanislas Wawrinka, the first time Switzerland has had three men advance that far at the Open.
