A gang of up to six raiders tied up a family and stole €60,000 worth of cigarettes as well as €5,000 in cash in Co Tipperary last night.
The raiders entered the house in Urlingford at around 11.00 p.m. wearing balaclavas and armed with iron bars.
The occupants - a cigarette vendor, his wife and their two teenage sons - were tied up in a garage and threatened. The gang then escaped in a red Toyota van belonging to the family.
A neighbour raised the alarm a short time later.
