Racing: Kieren Fallon will be allowed partner Yeats in the Melbourne Cup after the Australian authorities approved his application for a licence.
Fallon is currently suspended from riding in Britain as he faces trial on charges of conspiracy to defraud and Racing Victoria Ltd had invited him to apply for a licence after discussing the issue at a board meeting last week.
That application has now been cleared and Fallon will be available to ride Aidan O'Brien's staying star in the November 7th feature at Flemington Park.
A RVL statement read: "Kieren Fallon will be permitted to ride in this year's Spring Racing Carnival after Racing Victoria Limited today approved the Irish jockey's application for a Victorian "A" (flat) riders' licence."
Fallon will be riding in Australia for the first time if he partners Yeats in the Group One event over two miles.
The five-year-old, winner of both the Ascot Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup, is currently the 7-1 market leader.
