Explosive device made safe

An Army bomb disposal team made safe an improvised explosive device in Newcastle, Co Dublin, yesterday evening.

An Army bomb disposal team made safe an improvised explosive device in Newcastle, Co Dublin, yesterday evening.

After being called by gardaí, the team arrived at the scene on the Nangor Road, adjacent to the Pollyhops site, at 6.25pm.

The device was disarmed and the area was declared safe at 7pm.

The device has been handed over to investigating gardaí.
