Army bomb disposal experts were earlier called upon to dismantle an explosive device found in Dublin city centre.

The homemade device, which was described as "viable", was discovered at house on Sperrin Road, Drimnagh at 12.50 am.

The device was dismantled at the scene but no controlled explosion was carried out.

The scene was declared safe at 2.30am

The remains of the device were handed over to the gardaí for their investigation.

Yesterday, in a separate incident, army bomb disposal experts were called upon to remove an explosive device found at the Vincent Street Flat complex on Clanbrassil Street at about 4.20am.
